TREVOSE, Pennsylvania — Aphena has expanded our DEA packaging operations and storage for liquids, creams and lotions in our Easton, Maryland, facility. The expansion is in response to growing market demand for CII-V liquids, both ingestible and topical applications.

Eric Allen, Aphena's VP of sales and marketing, explains the company's investment, which reflects "Aphena's commitment to continue to provide our customers with one of the broadest ranges of packaging formats in the industry. We have provided packaging services for liquids and lotions for over a decade. The recent expansion at our Maryland facility provides additional capacity as well as increased flexibility to handle a wider range of products and packaging formats."

There are more than 12 custom filling lines installed already, and additional equipment is on the drawing board for 2018. Aphena's liquid and topical blending, filling and packaging capabilities provide for filling of tubes, sachets, wipes, cups and bottles of a wide range of sizes and fill volumes.

Additionally, Aphena's solid dose packaging site in Cookeville, Tennessee, is expanding its DEA capabilities. The expansion of the DEA Controlled (CII) Vault will be completed in late 2018, creating additional storage for DEA bottle and blister packaging.

Customers can now work with Aphena for DEA CII-V solutions for liquids, lotions, powders, pouches, blisters, bottles, vial labeling/packaging and kitting across two divisions — our solid dose division in Tennessee and our liquids and topicals division in Maryland. This is the widest variety of packaging formats we know of from one single CMO source in pharma.

"Our customers can continue to enjoy the benefits of diverse manufacturing and packaging capabilities from a single company," said Allen.
