COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — PrePak Systems, a six-year-old packaging company based in Cookeville, recently announced that William "Butch" Welch will take the responsibility of running their Cookeville location as vice president and general manager.
I have had the pleasure of working side-by-side with Butch for over 20 years," said Bob Allen, PrePak founder and chairman of its board of directors. "I know this is a great fit for Butch and that he will grow and continue to move PrePak in the right direction.
Allen hired Welch in the early '70s to work with him at the Keene Corporation in Cookeville. Welch graduated from Jacksonville State University with a B.S. in accounting and served at Keene as an accountant, material manager and controller.
He left Keene in the late '70s to work at Aquatech, a prewash denim business in Cookeville that grew to employ 1,600. There he served as plant manager, environmental director, production manager, controller and, later, as vice president of international operations with Greenwood Mills, the company that bought Aquatech in 1987. Welch moved back to Cookeville and joined PrePak Systems in 2006 as their controller.
"Butch has proven himself with his ability to grow domestic and international companies as well as raising a wonderful family, so he will be a great leader and public voice for PrePak Systems," said Allen.
Welch and his wife, Carol, have three children and six grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing.
PrePak Systems, located on Fisk Road, runs a four-shift rotation with 160 employees.
