COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — Aphena Pharma Solutions is proud to announce the addition of Doug Craig as Vice President / General Manager of Operations. With more than 23 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, Doug brings extensive expertise in sterile injectables and a strong track record of leadership across operations, manufacturing sciences and technology, project management, and supply chain management.
Doug’s decision to join Aphena was solidified during his on-site visit, where he was impressed by the engagement of employees and the passion of Aphena’s leadership team. “The energy and dedication I saw from the workforce convinced me that Aphena is a company with unlimited potential,” Doug shared. “I’m excited about the possibilities that lie ahead.”
As Aphena continues to expand its contract pharmaceutical packaging and manufacturing services, Doug sees significant opportunity for operational growth. His immediate priorities over the next 6–12 months include developing a deep understanding of Aphena’s processes and equipment, identifying areas for operational improvement, and preparing the team for growth in packaging biologics. “Enhancing efficiency, particularly in changeovers and startups, will strengthen our operations and allow us to position Aphena for the future,” he said.
Doug describes his leadership style as being a “present” leader — one who walks the floor, asks questions, and listens. “I do not micro-manage, but I believe in staying close to where the work is happening,” he explained. “Collaboration is key, and I intend to listen, learn, and share insights to help determine the best path forward.”
Beyond his technical and leadership expertise, Doug is personally motivated by both the people he works with and the patients Aphena ultimately serves. “Working with a passionate, dedicated team pushes me to be my best every day,” he said. “And knowing that the work we do directly improves patients’ lives makes it incredibly rewarding.”
Outside of work, Doug enjoys golf, hunting, and spending time with his family. A unique fact from earlier in his career is that he was one of only three people in the world qualified to formulate the licensed Anthrax vaccine.
